Spud and Cucumber began just as a Saturday game jam. That was literally the title of the game jam. I just needed a fast character to put on the screen and hadn't eaten yet so thought, hey what's an easy sprite? Potato. And then everything fell into place.
Then something strange happened along the way. I asked myself how I could merge their weird universe into the world of Emissary of the Machine and discovered a television show in the process. The show aims to be a kind of bizarre adult swim style cartoon, dipping into madness and at the same time strangle captivating.
The Micro-Site was spun up so I could start tracking where else these characters show up. Their world is slowly expanding out as time goes on, which is another unexpected development. There's singing tomatoes, a kitchen sink, and a cat.
